Passengers decry absence of power supply at MMIA

Passengers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on Sunday night decried the power outage at the terminal building.
Investigations by the press when the place was   visited  showed  that  passengers expressed disappointment over the development.
Some of the passengers who spoke to  the media  said  that the power outage started at about 7 p.m. when they were expected to check in their baggage.
``The terminal building has been thrown into darkness for more than three hours. We have not been able to check in  our luggage since the whole building is in darkness,’’ a passenger who simply gave his name as Tony said.
Another passenger who gave his name as Mr. Francis Ibex , blamed the power outage on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for not having a back-up.
``FAAN is to be blamed for not providing quality service. They should ensure that they have a back-up because the airport  is Nigeria's gate way.
``Any person coming into the airport or arriving will not be happy with this kind of situation,’’ he said.
Commenting on the development, the General Manager, Public Affairs, FAAN, Mr. Akin Olukunle, attributed the power outage to a broken down cable that connects power into the terminal.
Olukunle, in a telephone interview with the press  said that engineers were already on ground to restore light back to the terminal.
